And yes, the Dieppas! A couple of days after I did a post on them I received a newsletter from the store with a 30% discount offer on one purchase. I didn't know how much I needed them until I got them. I've been wearing them just about everyday since then. They work so much better than ballet flats for me.
The leather was a bit stiff for a couple of days, and I was afraid I'd gotten half a size too small (I did get half a size smaller than my usual size), but all of a sudden they were perfect. One of my best purchases this year.
Oh, and I just realised that this post is more than a little bit inspired by this post by Amanda/Assembled Hazardly. There's probably a Freudian explanation for that, but I'll settle with the fact that I'm not the only one with a love for stripes and Dieppa Restrepo!
I love the fit of both pairs! Those shoes look great with cropped trousers!
ReplyDeleteof course both outfits are great! so comfy and slouchy, not in any way overly nautical or anything. i blame you for my new Hope obsession, lol
ReplyDeletehaha! what a coincidence - i got the same hope top and chinos today from lagarconne! i love them both. not sure about the sizing on the chinos though. i got a size 36 which are fairly slouchy and i'm not sure if i should size down to a 34. they look really great on you! can i ask you what size you got and what size you normally take in trousers? thx!!
ReplyDeleteheart in a cage - Thanks! I think that the shoes are perfect with cropped trousers too, but they look good wih skinnies as well.
ReplyDeleteS - Thanks! I wore my Elali with the trousers, that works out really well. The pants are hard to take a good picture off, they look better in person.
mel -Thanks! Haha, the Lagarconne styling got you too? They really have the best styling, I want everything. I love them both too. I got the trousers in 36. They are slouchy on me, I almost have to use a belt (actually I am wearing them with a belt today). I didn't try them in 34, all my Hope clothes are in sz 36. However, I tried the Time trousers in sz 34, and that was horrible, way too tight. So I'm thinking they should be slouchy. I like them like this, it's not a fitted trouser. I'm normally s sz small, 36 or 26-27 in skinny jeans.
La Garconne is so great for outfit inspiration, but lately I feel their models look so wan and far too thin. I've been turning to Totokaelo instead, although I still prefer the clothing selection on La Garconne.
ReplyDeleteLove your outfits, stripes should never be put away - they are good all time, any time.
mel - I got those Hope pants as well in navy but *really* wanted that top too. I couldn't do it though because I also got the Hope Chy boots :X Haven't arrived yet though! I really wish you would do something like a private blog or flickr or something, I think we all have very similar taste. Anyway, sorry Garderoben for the interruption!
ReplyDeleteHah, it is a little inspired by Amanda/Assembled Hazardly! Although you guys still stay true to your own personal style. :D
ReplyDeleteI love your new Dieppas! The nubuck is gorgeous. Both outfits are gorgeous too. You do the slouchy look so well!!
can't get enough of striped tees year round. you look so great and summery in yours! the slouchy fit is totally addictive, no? striped shirts always look best when they're slouchy - otherwise a fitted stripe just doesn't look right IMO :)
ReplyDeleteGarderoben and S - i love seeing pics of your outfits. you both have really have great style, and uniquely your own. it's fun to see the same items styled differently and on real bodies (unlike ande and the rest of the stick-thin totakaelo models). it's true we do have similar styles - a love for isabel, dries, and stripes! haha!
ReplyDeleteGarderoben - thanks for the info on the fit - i think you may have saved me extra shipping costs;)
lin - I agree about the models being too thin, but somehow the styling gets me anyway. I love the combinations and the details of the styling. And thanks - stripes are really good all the time!
ReplyDeletes and mel - I agree, mel, I wish you'd share your outfits too! And thanks!
jennifer - I know! I had already written the post when I realised it way almost just like Amandas/Assembled Hazardly! And thanks, I'm so happy with the Dieppas. I hope I won't damage the nubuck, it's more delicate than leather.
miss sophie- Thanks! Yes, the slouchy fit is so addictive, and comfortable too. I just wish I'd find your slouchy skinny C/E jeans to complete my summer wardrobe! And yes, stripes need to be slouchy!
Are those the Breezy Calis? They look so cute! Just try using Apple Garde suede and nubuck protector, it should help somewhat and also, don't wear it out in the rain and it will work fine :-)
ReplyDeleteI too suffer from a striped tops addiction but they DO go with everything and are perfect pretty much every season! Fab Dieppas as well, I'd never heard of them before but will be checking them out.x

Amanda - thanks for your inspirational post:)! Yes, they are the Breezy Calis, I really like them. I've added rubber soles, and spray them all the time, so hopefully that'll help.
ReplyDeleteMilly - I know, I never get tired of stripes!Dieppa Restrepo is a pretty new brand to me too, but I'm glad I found them.
Great looks! You can never go wrong with striped tops!
ReplyDeleteEmmy - Thanks! I agree, I wear stripes almost every day!
ReplyDeleteLovely outfits. I too find that even though I wear stripes year round, I get much more wear out of them in the Spring and Summer. Your shoes are so charming!
ReplyDeleteI wore my news trousers today and they are so comfy and slouchy - I agree. I wore them with a black IM linen tee, tan gladiator sandals, and my Jerome Dreyfuss black twee bag. I think a belt would pull everything together, so this is next on my list. i'd love to see other outfits of yours with these trousers!
ReplyDeleteLindsay K - Thanks! Just about everything looks better with a stripey top!
ReplyDeletemel - I'm glad you like them too, I've been wearing mine almost every day. Your outfit sounds great, I'd love to see it:)! I wear mine with this belt: http://www.lagarconne.com/store/item.htm?itemid=9410&sid=651&pid=651
but in black!
maybe i'll start a blog someday, or like S suggested, a private flickr. i love the belt you recommended - thanks for pointing it out. what size did you take in the belt? i'm useless at sizing.
ReplyDeletemel - the belt is great, I really recommend it. I'll last forever and probably look better with age. I have this one: http://www.hope-sthlm.com/1/1.0.1.0/54/1/?item=prod_prod-s1/14318&group=prod_prod_grp-s1/24
ReplyDeleteIt's available here on sale in vintage black:

I have size 90 (like a small). I know, belt sizes are so cunfusing, I have some in size 70 and some in 90, and they're the same length!
Hi G.
ReplyDeletewanted to let you know that I've started a little blog to post my entire wardrobe. I'll be doing 5 outfits a week until I have every piece documented. Take a gander when you have a moment.

hope you're having a great weekend.
Best,
Wendy
Haha, I love reading the comments here.. it's like a good chat with your girlfriends at a cafe terrace. I love the shoes! They go well with your style, it seems!
ReplyDeleteAnd I blame you, miss sophie and amanda for my current obsession with those striped tops from Hope. I'm trying to track them down in my city!
Agnes comme fellini - I'm looking forward to more posts! Hope you're having a great weekend too!
ReplyDeleteFleurette - I know, just like we're out for a cup of coffee, haha! Thanks, the shoes really fill a hole in my wardrobe. And yes, Hope can be a source of obsession, lol! They have an online store in case you can't find them there.
I know! I've checked the online store, but I hate ordering stuff online because of the Norwegian tax system (25% + toll) + I have to try it on first. Which size do you have?
ReplyDeleteI have a size 36, so maybe you should have a size 34? I wouldn't mind getting one for you and sending it, that way you wouldn't have to pay toll+taxes. There's a Hope store 10 minutes from where I live. But then, there's no way to return it if you don't like the fit.
ReplyDeleteOh that would be so cool! I will let you know! If it doesn't fit I can resell it on ebay, etc! Thanks for the incredibly kind offer!!
ReplyDeleteFleurette - I ran by the Hope store today, they have a size 34. Just let me know!
