Isabel Marant raw silk plaid shirt, J Brand jeans and Dixie boots.
I succumbed to the Dixie boots. I tend to always look for slighly better, or just different, versions of boots and shoes that I already have, and that I'm perfectly happy with. It's a really annoying and irrational habit. This happened when I saw Isabel Marant's Dixie boots. I have the Dicker boots in both leather and taupe suede. I wear the leather ones more than the taupe suede ones, I'm a bit scared that I'll get them dirty or ruin them since they're so light. I can't say that I love the Dixies more than the Dickers, I like them equally, but they are quite different and so comfortable. The colour, cognac, is a lot nicer than it looks like in the pictures. I should have taken a close-up photo, but now I've dropped them of at my cobbler for a protective sole and new heel caps, the plastic ones that they come with fall apart after a couple of weeks so I figured I might as well replace them now. Unbelievable for such expensive boots. I've decided that I can't justify keeping my taupe suede Dicker boots, even though they're so pretty, so they're on eBay now, here, along with my A.P.C black lace up boots and some Etoile tops. All things I really like but that don't get enough wear.
When I find something I really love, like the leather Dickers, I worry that I might wear them too much, and that I'll never be able to find them again, so I tend to get something similair to alternate with. Do you also worry that your most beloved boots/clothes will never be able to be replaced if you wear them until they fall apart?
Haha, after your last post, I decided I needed a pair of black Dixies and ordered a pair from La Garconne. THIS post makes me feel like I made the right choice, those boots look really nice and comfy on you. My favorite top is a 3/4 sleeve Wood Wood tee and I have two of them just in case anything happens to the first!
ReplyDeleteyou look great! LOVE the dixies on you. i know exactly what you mean - i make a few exceptions for getting more than one of my favorites. striped shirts and a few favorite shoe styles (ie: ankle booties and tall boots).
ReplyDeleteAmanda - I know, blogs are dangerous! I had such a hard time deciding if I should get them, and if I should get them in black or cognac. They are really nice and so comfy. Size wise they run a bit bigger than past collections. I still sized up, but I need a a leather insole for the fit to be right. I usually wear in insole anyways, so it's fine. I know which wood wood tee you mean, I've looked everywhere for it after your post, haha!
ReplyDeletemiss sophie - Thanks! I know, I've asked this question on my blog earlier, in a post on pants, but I still feel that it's kind of irrational, not to mention expensive, to stock up on boots!
Wonderful boots, especially in that color.
ReplyDeleteWhen I love an item, I wear it non stop. I'm aware I should give other pieces a chance and, from time to time I do. Anyway, the more I think about it, the more I know I don't need a lot in my closet. Just the pieces I love in duplicate!!
You look great in this outfit! You have a great uniform there. The boots look great with skinny jeans! Upgrading is a problem for me, as well as wanting multiples. I've often wanted multiples in shoes, but like you, think it's cost prohibitive. However, I often end up with multiples in pants. I guess pants and shoes, I don't feel the need to change up all that much, so I mostly have multiples to extend wear and give more time between laundry
ReplyDeleteAïssa - Thanks, I love this colour too! I really feel the same way, I'd also need the pieces I love in duplicates. After a while I alternate and find some new favourites.
ReplyDeletePrêt à Porter P - I know what you mean about the buttons!
S - Thanks! I feel the same way, I have multiples in jeans and pants, but different colours and washes. It's so hard to find a style that's perfect, so you might as well get more than one pair.
I love the new boots on you. They are a different look than the dickers, so well worth it.
ReplyDeleteI always buy my favorite jeans and pants in multiples. But for expensive shoes, that's hard to swing. What I try to do is find a pair that I don't mind beating up over the winter and for walking around. That way I don't get too much wear on my favorites. I just invested in a pair of Acne pistols. I'm hoping they are sturdy and as comfy as everyone says!
Great outfit! The Dixie boots look really nice on you! I always worry about wearing through beloved items and not being able to replace them. I'm so tempted to get another pair of Dicker boots (in black), but I doubt I'll actually follow through.
ReplyDeletemel - Thanks! I agree, they are quite different!
ReplyDeleteThe Acne pistols are great. Here in Sweden, everyone wears them, really everyone! I got the Hope Macy boots instead, they're also quite sturdy with a comfortable heel. Btw, I still can't stop thinking about the low top sneakers...:).
jennifer - Thanks! That's why I got the suede Dickers, I wanted a slightly different pair to altenate with. I think that the Dixies will be perfect.
