Transitional pieces by pelargon74 featuring wooden heels
We probably have at least one more month of cold winter weather here, but I tried to figure out how to wear my two favourite jeans and cords into a spring style. I reallly prefer "fall" colours like burgundy and purple, rather than bright spring colours like orange and yellow. My new Dicker boots and the Etolie knit are perfect transitional pieces and look good with both pants. Spring jackets are hard to find. I have a vichy plaid A.P.C cotton coat, but it doesn't go with everything. I like the spring version Etoile's Ben coat, but it might be too long for me, I'm short (161 cm, 5´3"). Any tips?
Fantastic! That sweater is constantly on my mind now ... I saw the same yarn in the Roy sweater (the sweater I have in beige) but obviously didn't need 2 of the same sweater! I may be on the lookout for this version, as I was disappointed with the mainline cable knit sweater in black. Also, did you know that coat comes in a shorter version, called the Chuck? The only thing I would caution about is that there seems to be something kind of strange going on with the shoulder seam ... it's like the fabric is too drapey, causing a sort of bump where the arm meets the body. This doesn't happen with the Bator coat. I have 2 IM coats that are sort of in between the length of the Bator and the Ben (mid thigh), and I find the length very flattering.
ReplyDeleteGreat selection. I want to wear everything on your collage!! Like right now!
ReplyDeleteI've not checked Spring outerwear in details yet so I won't be helpful but Etoile does offer some great option each season.
Thanks for your tips! S, I've seen the Chuck coat in US store's Isabel Marant newsletters, but I haven't seen it in stores where I live or in European e-shops. It's just impossible to order from the States (more expensive+massive Swedish custom fees and taxes). Howevere, it's just what I'm looking for. I tried the fall version, the baki coat, and had the ben coat for a couple of weeks, but sold it because I was so disappointed in the fabric. There was a lot of pilling. Based on what you said about the "bump", I'd really have to try it on. I have a mainline winter coat (2008), which is mid thigh length, and I love it.
ReplyDeleteI love your collage and I think that your new Dicker boots and pullover will take you right into spring. As for spring jackets, I swear by an A.P.C. duffle coat that I purchased several seasons ago. It is probably the greatest piece I have in my entire wardrobe. They seem to have a similar cotton one this season.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jennifer! I'll have to check out the A.P.C duffle coat. I have two A.P.C fall/winter coats, and love them. A sailor coat and a 70's coat. A.P.C's at it's best when it comes to outerwear and shoes, I think. And cardigans. The idea of an Etoile Chuck coat is growing on me too. I just hope I'd find one around here.
ReplyDeleteYes, the Chuck coat has an amazing look. After what you said about the Ben coat, I'd definitely recommend you see the Chuck in person. I saw it but didn't try it on ... I should have taken a closer look. I'm becoming obsessed with your collage, btw! I have a different version of the IM boot in taupe (the one that isn't cowboy style), but suddenly feel the urge for this camel version. I *need* to tell myself that I don't need it! However, the red/navy/white sweater ... that's another story!
ReplyDeleteI know which boots you mean, I like that version too. I have the taupe ones, but they weren't on Polyvore. The camel ones are really great too...Just let me know if you want me to check if there's any more red/navy/white sweaters in the store where I got mine. I wouldn't mind sending it to you. It was $342.
ReplyDeleteI think we have very similar taste :) Aww, that's so sweet of you to offer! I have store credit at 2 stores, so I feel bad buying anything until I use those up. I'm trying to wait to see if either store will carry it. But I might take up your offer if I change my mind! I'd offer the same, but it might not make sense ... the store near here has unfortunately inflated prices, in addition to things already being more expensive here plus California tax, but you are free to use my shipping address for ebay or anything like that if you ever need!
ReplyDeleteI think we do too! Just let me know if you change your mind. If I really want something I might ask you.. Sometimes, if I'm obsessed(happens quite often) with something, I'm willing to pay a little more.
ReplyDeleteI'm having issues working out the perfect coat length too- I just had a Burberry trench taken up because I couldn't deal with its length (it made me look short, too) but I'm still not sure about what the perfect length is.
ReplyDeleteAsha, thanks for stopping by! Length is difficult when you're short. We have really long and cold winters here, so a long winter coat is essential. However, jackets for the other seasons is easier. Trenchs are usually too long. I'd love to see yours. /sara
ReplyDeletehey! So I'm starting to really become obsessed with this sweater, heheh :) I emailed a couple of shops, but can you let me know if you see it in a size 1?
ReplyDeleteOf course! I can give the store a call tomorrow. I got it in size 2, it runs pretty small (I'm usually a size s,36 or 1 and 2 in Etoile tops). Sometimes that particular store only get sz 2 and 3, but I'll ask for a sz 1. I know the feeeling...
ReplyDeletethanks so much! I'm usually a 0 or 1, so probably a 1 is good (though a 2 might work too) ... but no worries if they don't have it. Most of the stores around here sold out of the similar sweaters very quickly. It might just be one of those things I have to accept! I saw the same sweater in red, but the red/navy/white is a lot more subtle (and I'm fearful of color, lol). Thanks again for offering to call!
ReplyDeleteHi again,
ReplyDeleteI just called the store and they only have a sz 3 left. That's probably too big? The difference in sizes is usually not that big, but still. Sorry:(!
Yes, I think a 3 might be too big. I'd worry about the fit under the arms. But thanks for calling! I really appreciate it :)
ReplyDeleteSo I was never able to locate this exact sweater, but I did find the Ritchi sweater in red/navy/white (same sweater that NAP sold out of) ... it's very similar to the ecru sweater I have, but the knit is a little looser (bigger holes). Do you think it's silly to get 2 very similar sweaters in different colors?
ReplyDeleteNo, not at all. I actually do this a lot when it comes to items I really like (like linen long sleeves and skinny pants). And, there's a big difference between an ecru sweater and red/white/navy one, even if the style is the same. Go for it! The colours are lovely, and go with black and blue pants.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I got these yesterday: http://www.net-a-porter.com/product/113072
I really like them, but they're not as skinny as on the model. Maybe because she's at least one foot taller than I am;). I'm not sure about the dry lean only part, though..It's a linen/tencel blend, do you know anything about tencel/linen when it comes to washing? I don't know if it'll work out for me, with two kids with dirty fingers grabbing my legs all the time!
Thanks for the advice! I will probably at least try it out and see how I feel. Those pants look really nice! And it's nice when pants aren't super skinny. Oh ... I know the fabric of those pants, I think I tried on a pleated style in tencel/linen. I can relate to not wanting dry clean only pants! I looked up tencel and saw that it's usually machine washable, so it might have those instructions b/c of the linen? With my linen pants, I do put them in the wash, but the color faded *a lot* at the first wash. So be careful about that, probably wash inside out in cold. Can't wait to see them on!
ReplyDeleteThanks for looking it up for me! I'll try them on this weekend with some tops and maybe I'll post a picture and ask for some advice. The fabric is beautiful, quite different from my Etoile linen pants. Mine have faded too, but I kind of like the washed out colour.
ReplyDeleteI almost bought the Ritchi sweater at Net-a-porter, but decided to wait and see if I'd find the one I finally got here.
