Blue and plaid

Jak & Jil

Besides stripes, a have a soft spot for plaid and blue, pretty often combined. If  I have a choice I always go for the blue version of something I like. When it comes to plaid I love Isabel Marant's plaid shirts, the materials and the colours are usually exactly what I'm looking for and feel comfortable in. I love that she repeats the plaid shirts every season. For me, blue is a neutral just like black, grey and white. I definitely wear more blue than white tops/shirts. The result of my weakness for blue and plaid is that my wardrobe contains more than a few items like the ones below.

J Brand jeans, Etoile shirt, Dieppa Restrepo oxfords, Acne belt, Etoile linen tee, vintage belt, A.P.C wedges, Rag & Bone shirt, Rag & Bone ballet flats, Etoile plaid jacket, Isabel Marant necklace.

I just realised that my past few posts are more detailed versions of this old post. Nothing I planned, I guess I'm running out of ideas, haha! Do you also find yourself choosing one colour/print in particular?

  1. I'm loving all the outfits here! It's great to see how easily your APC and Dieppas have integrated into your wardrobe. Everything looks amazing. I like how you'll basically just be wearing a tshirt and jeans but somehow make it look so good. I'm seriously signing up for the Garderoben school of casual style, hehe :) I also have a strong love for blue. I think blue might be the only "color" that I really wear, although like you, I consider it more of a neutral. I like the idea of plaid, my husband wears plaid quite a bit, but for some reason, it never really makes it into my daily wardrobe. Although I truly do love the Western influence (incidentally, reading Cormac McCarthy right now), I think it's something I prefer more on other people.

  2. I love the IM plaid blue shirt. I don't own anything plaid simply because I haven't come across an item that has really caught my eye. I'm also a sucker for blue as well but I'm a bigger sucker for grey. My winter wardrobe is basically a variation of different shades of grey combined with something black.

All the blue shirts in your photos are wonderful choices and look great on you!

  3. S - Thanks, haha! You do casual style incredibly well! I know, there are several things I like on other people, but never seem to integrate into my daily wardrobe, like a classic white or blue oxford shirt.

Agnes comme fellini - Thanks!! I wear lots of grey and black too. During the colder months I usually just add a black or grey cardigan, so I wear my plaid shirts year round. The linen tops are for warmer months, though.

  8. Aïssa - Thanks, I got it on ebay! It's actually white, I don't know why it ended up in a post on blue:)!

Lindsay K - Thanks, I really like it, the material is a great raw silk/cotton blend.

  9. you look so chic and effortless in all the pics! plaid and blue just go together like bread and jam, i say! that should be a children's song :) anyway, i am the same way. i used to have a ton of navy blue items in my closet, but recently i've been drawn to a lot of grays. it's a really great color for any skin tone and i find that it is the perfect blank canvas for a bright color accessory or jewelry!

  10. miss sophie - Thanks! That'd be a great children's song, I might compose something and sing it to my kids, haha! I don't have lots of navy clothes, more lighter blue shades. I love grey too, and I'm always looking for good grey tees and knits.
