Vanessa Bruno coat from Forwardbyrevolve
I saw this Vanessa Bruno coat a few months ago, and haven't been able to forget about it. I'm usually not into crochet details, but these are so subtle and beautifully made. It's very expensive, even on sale, but the quality is probably good. This would be a perfect Christmas present, but the only way that'll happen is if I get it myself. I'd style it with things I already have/or similair. The Balenciaga Chelsea boots are on my wish list as well.
I'm trying to figure out if an Isabel Marant scarf is worth the price? There's a really nice one that I found on the La Garconne website (seems to fit the bill of what I'm looking for - gauze, grey and perfect length) and I'm wondering if it will hold up since I've had some disappointment with lots of IM stuff. Also, this ensemble pretty much looks like something I've been wearing lately... uncanny.
ReplyDeleteI own those very Balenciaga Chelsea boots and although I do love them, they are a bit expensive and the construction is not that great. There are tabs on the back of the boot and after about 10 wears, I noticed the bottom of the tab was glued on. The rest of the tab is stitched onto the boot but it was rather surprising that they didn't do the same for the entire tab. Especially since they are over 500 euros! Also, the soles are quite thin so you would have to get rubber soles put on them immediately before wearing them out. (which I did)
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand, it's one of the few pairs of boots that required no breaking in and were comfortable for long walks from the first time wearing them. Can't say that about other shoes I own and use to own.
If you do decide to get them, keep in mind they are quite snug, which suited me well since I have 'skinny' feet. One of the only pairs of boots where my socks don't slouch into the boots while walking!
Great ensemble you've put together and that Bruno coat is a beauty.
Amanda - you mean the Etoile viscose/cashmere one? Hm, I don't know if I'd pay that much for that kind of fabric. I have some pretty bad experiences with viscose. I have the mainline 100% cashmere scarf, also available at Lagarconne. It's so good. The price is still outrageous at 30% off. I got mine last year at 60% off, and it's definitely worth that price. So soft, I wear it all the time. The IM raw silk scarfs are really good quality as well. I know, I seem to wear a similair ensemble all the time too, haha!
ReplyDeleteWendy Wong - Thanks so much for your thoughts on the Balenciaga boots! Good to know! I wasn't really pålanning on getting them, at least not at that price, but they seem to make a version of Chelsea boots almost every year. My Hope Chy boots are like a chunkier version of these boots, and I wear them all the time. Sometimmes I feel like I could use a higher shaft though, for cropped pants when it's cold. These would be perfect. They look so soft!
I know, the coat is such a beauty! But I really love my IM coat, so I'm hoping I'll be able to resist it!
I had not noticed that Vanessa Bruno coat. It's lovely and as much as I like IM, VB does have a knack for adding interesting and exquisite details to her designs. Every year, I fall in love with some of her outerwear but her prices are rather steep.
ReplyDeleteI always love how even when you experiment with something that is slightly different for you, the overall effect still looks so consistent! That coat is so lovely, the details are so subtle.
ReplyDeleteAïssa - it's so lovely! I used to have a Vanessa Bruno Athé coat, but I've never had anything from her mainline. Do you have any experience with the quality of her coats? I'm thinking that it must be good, considering the original price tag.
ReplyDeleteS - Thanks! The coat is slightly more feminine than the coats I'm usually drawn to, but the shape is still pretty masculine, that's probably why I like it so much. I really can't afford it now, just before Christmas, but I can't seem to let it go. I just want to try it on...haha!
No, can't say if the quality is good, I don't own any VB outerwear but it better be for this kind of price tag!
ReplyDeleteLove the Chelsea boots and the Vanessa Bruno coat!

no idea about the quality of VB, though the price has always been high. from experience i think it's safe to say that a high price tag on womenswear never is an indicator of quality :P it's different in menswear though, as i've remarked before in some of my posts. the coat is really interesting though - i love the architectural details!
ReplyDeleteAïssa - Exactly!!
ReplyDeletepetrichore - I know:)!
miss sophie - I know, it's quite upsetting, that the price tag isn't an indicator of the quality when it comes to womenswear. I have resisted the coat so far, but it's so nice.
I saw that coat listed on ebay France http://cgi.ebay.fr/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220918046231&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649. Auction ends tomorrow. Hope you had a wonderful christmas by the way!
ReplyDeleteAïssa - Thanks, I noticed that too:)! It's on sale on Matches as well. But I found the Bator coat on Ebay last week, I've been looking for it forever! So I got it instead....I just hope that it fits! Thanks, I had a great Christmas, hope you did too. Happy new year!
