I've had a big closet clean out and sold a bunch of things on eBay. When I sell on eBay I usually end up spending the money I've made in new bidding wars. I almost feel like I'm not spending any money, I'm pretty good at convincing myself things like that. This time I actually got a lot more than I've paid for some of the items. So, I did find a spring jacket (Etoile Chuck) - and jumped the Elali bandwagon. Two jackets, that is. I feel bad about it, the Elali is not even on my list:)! Both were good deals and definitely less expensive than what they sell for in stores, and they're brand new, but still...I've kept it to myself for a couple of weeks.
Anyways. I love them both and will use them until they fall apart. I fell in love with the Elali jacket after seeing it on
Fleurette and
Mommystyle, and I'm so happy with it. I can wear it all year round, and the fabric is wonderful.
The Chuck jacket is exactly what I was looking for, a lightweight spring jacket that can be layered. This is a summer version of the Bator/Baki in 100 % linen, and I was so happy when I found it in this colour, I didn't want it to look like the previous fall/winter jackets.
I love the second jacket! I really like the shape of the IM bator/baki/etc. coats because they look like they can accommodate some bulky sweaters. It would be great if they were longer for dresses because I love when jackets hit just a few inches below the hem of a mid-thigh length dress. I still like the general length however...perhaps I just need to get separate coats--one for dresses and one for jeans!

Both jackets look great on you! I think your pictures are making me fall in love with the Chuck coat. It looks incredible. I think the linen allows it to drape more nicely than the Baki. Did you get it in blue?
ReplyDeleteI really love both! And I agree with Jennifer, they look great on you!
ReplyDeleteGosh, I love that second jacket - I just could justify the purchase for one - and a good lightweight jacket doesn't come along often too. Great buys! Don't feel too bad about new buys - they're not supposed to make you feel like that.
ReplyDeleteSeriously, the Chuck looks like it was made for you. It looks so natural on you, like you've owned it forever, and integrates seamlessly into your style and wardrobe. Very good choice getting the blue. The Elali looks perfect on you as well, the fit is so superb, and absolutely doesn't look overdressed the way you've styled it. I still can't get over how consistent your style is (you know I'm all over the place ... hello Acne Tubes, lol). Gosh, do you ever make mistakes?? Anyway, fantastic buys!
ReplyDeleteDanielle - I like the fact that I can wear a sweater too. There's also a button near the neck, so you can button it if it's cold. You should check out the Clark version, it's just like this one but longer!
ReplyDeleteJennifer - Thanks! Yes, it's blue, I added a close up picture of the fabric. It drapes beautifully.
Heart in a cage - Thanks! I really like both of them.
Lin - I agree, good lightweight jackets are hard to find. I don't feel bad about buying them now, I know I'll use them so much. I got them the same week, and thought, two jackets, do I really need that? But they are very different and for different occations.
S - Thanks! I'm blushing here :). The Chuck is so nice, and goes with everything. I was looking for the more safe beige one in the beginning, but when I saw this I knew it was the right colour for me. It looks good with black and blue jeans, as well as the Dreyfuss bag and IM boots. Your style is very consistant too, I can't wait to see the Acne Tubes!
you look great and i love both - especially the second springweight bator! such a versatile cut and seasonless classic. i think so long as you're editing/selling pieces, you can definitely allow for a new purchase or two :)
ReplyDeletewhat size are you in IM jackets? i've a feeling i'm probably a 0. will have to see if i can try on some of her fall pieces in store later this year.
miss sophie - Thanks!! IM jackets are so inconsistent in sizing. I have 5, in different sizes. My winter coat and the Chuck are sz 0, the Elali is a sz 2, my wool boulce a sz 3, and fitted (!). I also have a summer linen jacket in sz 2. It seems like the over sized styles run big, and the fitted styles run small. Not one of them runs true to size! I'm usually a sz small, 36, American 2, maybe 4 sometimes. It's so frutrating and confusing, especially when you buy on eBay. I also really dislike the fact that some styles run so small. If i'm a sz 3 in the boulce jacket (the largest size), who's a sz 0? No one larger than a sz 36 can buy the jacket. Very strange.
ReplyDeleteOh la la...Oh la, the Chuck is fantastic! Just perfect on you!! Bravo! You shouldn't feel any shame, both jackets are worth it!
ReplyDeleteAïssa - Thanks!I agree, they are worth it!!
ReplyDeleteGood choice with the Elali- it really suits you. On bandwagon I would probably jump on if I had the cash!
ReplyDeleteAsha - thanks! The closet clean out made this possible, and I still have about $500 left from my eBay auctions. I hope I can keep them in my Paypal account for a while now. I want to save for a trip, like yours to Bali. What a dream.
ReplyDeleteI like both jackets esp the second one, I like the design more! Both are fantastic purchases and will get lots of wearso no worries!
ReplyDeleteAngie - Thanks, the black one will be an all year round jacket, so I know that I'll use it a lot. It'll be warm this weekend, so I'll use the second one then!
ReplyDeleteGreat choices!!!
ReplyDeleteEmmy - Thanks, I'm happy with them!
ReplyDeleteI have the chuck jacket in size 1 but it's grey herringbone instead of blue. Do you find size 0 is perfect for you or would you size up to 1 if you had the choice? Also, have you used the belts that come with the jacket. I haven't because I think it looks really bad! But maybe I'm just not putting it on correctly or something. Lastly, do you mind telling me how much you paid for it?
ReplyDeleteAnyways, congrads of both jackets. Both look fantastic on you!
Wendy - Thanks! Oh, I like the grey one too. Sz 0 is perfect for me, 1 would be too large. I haven't used the belt, I also think it looks quite bad! It's not the look I'm after. I think I paid 300 euro, and it retails for around 380. Thanks for stopping by!
ReplyDeletelili- Thanks:)! I don't have a bator coat, my Isabel Marant winter coat is from 2008. I got it and the Chuck on eBay!
ReplyDeleteThey both really does look amazing on you!
ReplyDeleteAlice - Thanks a lot!
