I can't seem to let go of the idea of a perfect watch and a Sofia Coppola for LV bag. I'd love to wear them like this. The Rodarte for Opening Ceremony boots are pretty nice, but I prefer Isabel Marant's versions of the cowboy boot. I chose this picture from La Garconne even though Polyvore makes it look shaded, because I love the jeans but I can't figure out who made them. They're pretty much what I'm looking for, just slouchy enough. I have the sunglasses and the Hope sweater, in different colours though, so if I decide to save up for a bag or a watch I could try this look in a couple of  years or so:).

  1. oooh oooh, perfection! I love this look, slouchy cool! I have a feeling those jeans are those R13 $300+ jeans *sigh*. They really are perfect! The right amount of slouch and fading. I think I need to look into Hope knitwear ... it all looks really good. I wanted to say, one thing about these investment watches is that the repair work is often equally expensive. I've heard of people paying $500 to repair old Cartiers and eventually deciding that the repair costs were too expensive to maintain the watches. It might be worth it to you, but your daughter might have different priorities. I feel like jewelry might be a more worthwhile heirloom, but still a watch like this you can at the very least wear for the rest of your life. I think my tastes are too fickle to invest in big items like these. That's what I like about Michele watches ... they may not be the best or most beautiful watches, but the ability to easily change out the straps is very appealing to me.

  2. I really enjoyed your last two posts. They struck a chord with me because I've been saving up for the SC for LV for about a year now and could get one when they come out next month. However, as the bag becomes more of a real possibility than just a wish list item, I've started to re-think whether or not I'll actually be able to spend that kind of money on a bag.

On the one hand, I'd like to move towards purchasing more lifetime investment pieces, and do love the bag, but on the other, could I really enjoy it knowing how much I spent?

  3. S - Oh, they must be the R13 slouchy skinny! I can only find them in a blue wash, but maybe they're sold out. They are perfect! Have you ever seen them in person? I haven't. They're way too expensive to order without trying them on, at least for me with shipping fees and taxes. I really love Hope's knitwear. Great quality, and lovely details. This sweater has back buttons, and a nice slouchy fit.
My co-worker with the IWC watch told me about the repair work costs. It's definitely something to consider. I'll never buy an expensive watch like the one I love, I just wish I could find something equally nice for 1/8 of the price:)! I'm actually happy with my Tissot watch, the strap can be exchanged to a leather one if I want to. I've never heard of Michele watches before, are they American?

Abby - I'm glad you've enjoyed the posts. I'm afraid I'd feel exactly like you if I ever save up for a SC bag - would I feel too guilty about buying it to enjoy it? I could never tell anyone how much it cost, haha! I love it, and I have since I first saw it, but I never really thought of it as it could be mine. I agree, I love the idea of a lifetime investment, I just don't know if I'd only want this one bag for the rest of my life? I don't trust myself when it comes to bags and shoes:)!

  4. Hmm, I was so sure they were the R13 slouchy skinny too, but now I'm not so sure. The R13 seems to have a swirl thing on the back right pocket, but I don't see any design on these jeans. I'm soooo curious now!

Michele is a Belgian brand, but whatever its heritage, it's pretty much just a fashion watch brand at this point. But they have a mechanism that allows you to switch the bands without needing any tools, so you could change your band everyday if you wanted. The non blingy ones without diamonds are all under $1000.
Anyway, I'm kind of in love with this Hope outfit + mystery black jeans!!! It's reviving my desire for black jeans like these. I think my black suede Marant boots would work well, hehehe :) Ugh, I really didn't need to find out about a new brand to drool over, but all your Hope items are really making me want something from them.

  5. oh, and btw, are you wanting the LV bag in suede? I LOVE suede, and I think this bag is the most beautiful in suede, but it's just so delicate. I feel like there's no way a suede bag could really last a lifetime, unless you are content with a very battered look. Aged leather looks so much nicer than aged suede, I feel.

  6. I just sent an e-mail to Lagarconne and asked about the jeans! This might become an obsession...I love this outfit too. I have the sweater in this colour: http://www.hope-sthlm.com/1/1.0.1.0/54/1/?item=prod_prod-s1/13085&group=prod_prod_grp-s1/68, but it's also available in nude, black and the mix colour. I've posted a link to it before, in black. I really like mine, so I wanted one in black too. I've decided not to buy multiples though, unless it's something special. I never get tired of my Hope clothes/boots. I know, I don't need new brands to become obsessed with either, like R13!
About the bag, no, I want it in calf leather. I chose this picture because I also think that it's more beautiful in suede, but like you said, it won't stay that pretty for long. I use my IM leather boots a lot more than my suede ones and my LD Tuttles in suede, I'm afraid they'd get ruined if it rains.

  7. ooh, you have to let me know what they say about the jeans! I haven't tried on R13 yet ... I'm not sure if any place sells that brand around here ... maybe Barneys? I'll try to look next time. I really like the Hope sweater best in the color you have and the melange. I actually *really* love the melange, good thing lagarconne sold out in my size. I don't need to be tempted right now, lol. I really wish suede was more resilient, because I love the look. I wasn't able to wear my IM suede boots for most of winter b/c of the rain!

  8. I will, no reply yet! The melange is really nice, and mine is more greenish/blue than the picture on their site. Have you seen this, also so lovely:http://www.hope-sthlm.com/1/1.0.1.0/54/1/?item=prod_prod-s1/17047. I'm glad that's sold out as well!

  9. ooooh, so nice! I think I like the shape of the Spring sweater more, but I love the fabric/pattern of this sweater!

  10. this is one of those outfits that i'd pack for a trip - versatile, comfy and chic!

  11. S - I agree! The spring sweater has a nice slouchy fit, but this pattern is so nice.

miss sophie - Exactly! I wish I could find the jeans somewhere, they seem to be sold out everywhere!

  12. Gah, that outfit is so slouchy and cool. I love that SC bag so much! I have a vintage and beat up monogrammed speedy. The shape is great, but I never use it anymore because the monogram makes me really self conscious. The SC bag is *so* expensive though. LV bags seem to be at such a higher price point than other similar luxury brands.

  13. jennifer - I feel that way about monograms too. And yes, why is it so expensive?! I really love it, but I'm not sure I could actually buy it even if I saved up for it.

  14. Did you find out what the jeans are? By the way, I've set up a polyvore with 90% of my wardrobe documented.

    http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/browse.collections?uid=2509863

I've emailed it to mymommystyle and fleurette as well. The three of you are my choices to advise me on outfit possibilities, if you are interested.

I'm a late 30 something mother of a young toddler as well and feel that you and S understand the lifestyle with a young child living in a cosmopolitan city. More importantly, I just like the style of you three ladies and have received a lot of inspiration from all of you.

So, take a look if you like and would be most interested in seeing what you come up with!

    Best Regards,
    Wendy

  15. agnes comme fellini -about the jeans, no, La Garconne didn't answer. Probably R13!
And thanks for sharing your wardrobe, that's quite an amazing project, documenting it like that. I really like your collection, classic with an edge. I especially love the bags, and the shoes. I remember a pair of Marsèll ankle boots I tried two years ago. I didn't get them, and I've regretted that since then. I'd love to see yours with the Fifth Avenue shoe repair trousers. Maybe with the A.P.C long sleeve? And the C/E slouchy skinnies (I've been looking for them forever, can't find them anywhere), L.D Tuttle sandals and the Etoile Ernst vanilla top. I'd also love to see some outfits that you usually wear. There are so many great possibilities here. It'd be very inspirational for me too!

  16. Thanks for looking at my polyvore and especially for your suggestions. If you look at my sets, you will find some of the outfits I've been wearing this year.

As for the Current/Elliott jeans, there's a pair in size 25. Since it's yoox, you can always return them if you decide they don't fit or don't like them They run 1-2 sizes big, so if you normally wear 26-27, they will fit you well. here's the link

Feel free to put some sets together for me when you remember and have time in the future.

Will continue to read your blog as I always enjoy all of your posts.

  17. agnes comme fellini - Oh, of course, I didn't think about the sets! I haven't used Polyvore for my own wardrobe, just for inspirational sets. It seems like you might have been wearing one of the outfits I thought of!
And thanks for the link, I actually checked Yoox a few days ago, but since they don't say what style is it I wasn't sure that these were the slouchy skinny. Are you happy with yours?
I will have another look at your sets/collection later! And thanks!!

  18. agnes comme fellini - I just realised that the jeans on yoox are normal length, I'm looking for the cropped version. I don't know if there's much of a difference except for the length, though. I have to look that up. Thanks again for the link, that's so nice of you.
