Wishlist 2011 update

I made a wishlist for 2011 in March. I don't really know if it has helped me stay more focused when it comes to shopping, I've certainly strayed away from it more than I've sticked to it, but I've managed to find some items that I felt were missing in my wardrobe. I love all the things I got, and I've been wearing them a lot.
1. The perfect black blazer/jacket. Found it - Helmut Lang.
2. A small cross body bag, you might have seen it before, Jerome Dreyfuss Mini Twee.
3.Some kind of sandals with heels - found them. A.P.C.
4. Spring jacket -  Etoile Chuck jacket.
5. Black slouchy skinny jeans.
6. Basic black good quality sweater.
7. Shorts. Found them, Hope time shorts.

I haven't found any black slouchy jeans. I was tempted by R13's slouch skinny jeans in black, but the price and the fact that they're a bit too distressed  was off-putting. I'm also still looking for a black crewneck wool/cashmere sweater. It seems like it shouldn't be that hard, but it's impossible! I'm thinking something like this, but I want to be able to try it on first.

I've also realised that I need to add some items to my list.

8. A black cardigan. I've lost my Acne cashmere cardigan. I'm so upset, I've never lost a piece of clothing before. I think that it might have fallen off the stroller in the park. Argh!! Acne make good knits, and it's hard to find a great cashmere cardigan. I really loved mine, and when I got it I felt like this price was OK for something that'd get lots of wear. I've had it for two years, and I have been wearing it every other day during winter. I have a lightweight black cotton cardigan that's about to fall apart, so I'm getting desperate. Now that I need a new one, there's nothing! I was hoping that A.P.C would make one, but I haven't seen any yet. I was able to snatch the last one in small from the Hope online sale yesterday, here, but I think that it might be too lightweight. It doesn't have to be cashmere, but soft wool, I'm pretty sensitive. So, this only proves that great basics are hard to find!

9. A cardigan in burgundy. I've seen a picture of an Etoile burgundy cardigan that my favourite store here will get later this fall, it seems really nice.

10. A winter coat. This is my least favourite thing to shop for. There are no nice really warm coats. There are tons of lovely wool coats for fall, but when it gets really cold I need something to keep me warm when my kids drag me to the playground (I can't even tell you how much I hate the playground in January). I have an Acne down parka, it's really warm but that's the only good thing about it. It's huge. I feel like I'm walking around in a down tent. Hope has a pretty nice parka, here, but no. It's pretty much like the one I've got. Instead, I found this little thing. It's a down liner to wear underneath your coat. Hm, I've never though of that before. What do you think? I've tried it on, it's pretty nice and would definitely fit underneath my Isabel Marant wool coat. Still, do I want to pay  €160 for something that I wear underneath my coat? Would it be too much of a hassle putting on two jackets?

The wishlist is most likely to be continued, I'm weak when it comes to fall clothing.

  1. you did well with your wishlist! I love all the things that you got to fill it. I think I'd also like a black sweater at some point (to wear with army pants and boots, right?) but haven't really fallen in love with any. I don't need particularly warm coats, but even so, I've often thought about buying a liner as well, to wear with this one very thin parka I have. You know how there's an APC parka with a removable sherpa liner? Sort of the same idea I guess! My husband has that parka, and I wish I bought it for myself instead of for him, lol.

  2. I think I have the same Acne coat. It was great last winter, because I could carry my baby on my belly and zip up the jacket to keep us both warm. But regarding the pricy liner from Hope, perhaps you could find a cheaper liner in an outdoorsy shop (you know, the kind where you can get fishing equipment and other stuff)? I have a very thick and long wool cardigan to wear under my wool coat on cold winter days - it covers my bottom and so keeps that warm too. I could imagine that being nice when hanging out on playgrounds in January.

  3. Check the Hope cardigan out...http://www.hope-sthlm.com/1/1.0.1.0/54/1/?item=prod_prod-s1/18017&group=prod_prod_grp-s1/68. Lovely soft wool and really nice cut...

  4. Just thinking about the playground in January makes me want to cry. I can't stand being outside when it's cold. You're such a good mom:)

I think a liner might work. I have a lot of issues with staying warm during the winter and have found very innovative items at outdoor stores.

I hear you on the black cardigan. I live in mine.

  5. S - I know, a black sweater to go with green pants and chys:)! I've seen the A.P.C parka, but never in person. I'm not sure if it's warm enough, though. Maybe for French winters! Are the sleeves lined as well?

d.h.e.r - My Acne parkas is from 2008, but they seem to remake it every year. I like it because it's so warm, but it's so oversized. I should have gotten a size 34 instead of a 36, then maybe it wouldn't feel like a tent! I'll check out some outdoorsy shops, but they ones I know of sell pretty expensive stuff. Thanks for the tip!

Peace in mind - I have checked it out, it's really nice. I think that the wool is very fine and lightweight, just like the one I ordered from the sale. I think that I need one that is even warmer, but I'll go to the store and look it up. Thanks!

Prêt à Porter P - I know, and you never really think about it until you really need it! I tend to buy multiples in pants and tees too. I think that a liner is a good idea, like you said, for other coats as well.

Lindsay K - I know, the playground in January is
a nightmare, but then, staying inside with both of them for an entire day is too, lol!
I will see what I can find at an outdoor store, I hate being cold too.

  6. I would love to see this Helmut Lang blazer! I have been going crazy trying to find a decent one. They are either too corporate or too cheap looking (ie. jersey lining, flimsy quality)

  7. good basics are truly hard to find, so when i do find a holy grail basic i sometimes stock up on a few. i got a barbour down vest recently and will be wearing it underneath my barbour jacket this coming winter. i think a down liner or gilet of some sort is an excellent way to have a flexible inner/outer layer!

  8. R A - I know, I had the same problem, I didn't want to look too formal. You saw the post on the blazer? It's available at La Garconne and Net-a-Porter. I ordered it without trying it on, and it fits like a glove!
miss sophie - I'm definitely going to look for a liner! The ones from outdoor shops seem even more expensive, though.

  9. Coats are so tricky! I've just decided I'm going to have to spend more than I would like on coats that are tailored the way I want. You're doing well with your list, I do admire your discipline :) When it comes to jeans, after wearing a pair from All Saints, I will never go back. They fit really well and are very reasonably priced.

  11. For black slouchy jeans, I love the Acne hugs in blackness. They are distressed, but not as much as the R13s. I live in mine. Unfortunately, I don't see them on the Acne website, but you may be able to track them down in sweden quite easily.

I LOVE LOVE that helmut lang blazer. Can I ask you how it's running? Please do a post wearing it too! I'd love to see how you style it!

  12. mel- I've actually been looking for Acne hug in blackness and haven't found them anywhere, maybe I could track them down at an outlet store. The blazer is so nice. I'm wearing it in the Helmut Lang post, with skinny jeans! It runs true to size. I have a size 4, and I'm normally a size small or 36. I'll try to get more outfits posts with it later on!

  13. i have found simple cardigan sweaters at gap men's department. additionally to simplicity and good rice, the sleeves were finally long enough...

  14. THE DIVINITUS - The men's department can be worth checking out, but usually most clothes there are too big for me. The hope cardigan I found is actually really good, so problem solved!
