I've been thinking about how I tend to get multiples since this post at Mommy style. Sometimes I get neurotic about wearing a garment that I love until it falls apart, that I'll never be able to find anything like it. This happened with these Rodebjer pants. I got them in black first, probably five years ago, added a navy pair, then a slightly striped pair and finally the greyish/black ones I'm wearing in the first picture. The are a bit different, three are ankle length, and the grey ones are full length (on me, but I'm short). The material and knee details are different as well. Of course I love the first ones more than the others...that probably happens often when you get multiples. Anyways, they're great basics and go with most things in my wardrobe. All of them were on sale, except the first pair. I've noticed that I often look for garnments I love in different colours, but I try to keep it to tanks, tees and sometimes jeans. I guess the IM booties fall into this category as well. I've seen the heather grey top I'm wearing in a dark grey version, but that's probably a case where I'd feel like I'm wearing the same thing every day. Still fighting the urge, though..:)
loveliness! The pants fit you perfectly, I can see how you ended up with multiples. I'm still trying to wrap my head around the idea of multiples ... whether it's a good thing or bad. I can't really think of any time where I've worn all colors equally, besides really basic things like jeans and layering tops like tanks. Yet, when I find something I like, I end up wearing it all the time, and always think that I need more of that item. It hasn't worked out well yet! I think for you, getting the grey top in dark grey would definitely be a mistake. However, you seems to wear both IM booties equally. It's always a tough call!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Yes, the dark grey top would be a mistake, I know. The booties are different. I can wear the leather ones when the weather is unpredictable, without worrying about rain ruining them. The taupe ones are more delicate, I have to pretty sure that it won't rain, even though I spray them all the time. I use the leather ones more now, but I can't wait for better weather+suede booties. And about these pants I'm pretty glad I've got several, but three might be enough...I just hope that I'll still like them when one pair eventually falls apart!
ReplyDeleteI've been wondering if I should spray my black suede booties ... I've been bad about that. I think the brown leather and the taupe suede are the perfect 2 to own. Those I can tell weren't mistakes!! And something like the Krys ... if it came in black, I wouldn't hesitate to get them. But then for example, sometimes I think I'd like a lighter blue jean ... and that makes me wonder I would wear both the mid and the light blue equally. Such dilemmas, lol :)
ReplyDeleteSome things are just worth getting multiples. But if you tend to end up wearing one color more than the other, maybe you should buy multiples in the same color (if you can afford it?)? I would, but then I wouldn't afford buying 3 of the same black sweater from IM, which leads to the point where I start thinking that I should buy more tops so I can rotate my tops so they won't get worn too soon.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I'm thinking of buying the Hope boots that you have. I saw them today in cognac, but I want the black ones.. I didn't try them on, but I hope they don't make my legs shorter than they already are. The IM boots height is just perfect and flattering, and the height even elongates my legs.
S - you should spray them with suede protector, it'll keep them nice longer. I don't think that yours are as delicate as mine, black is better in that way. I know, the dilemmas! I've been eying the light blue Krys as well, but I know that I wouldn't wear them as much as the mid blue. I've made that mistake before, with J brand skinnies...
ReplyDeleteFleurette - I've been thinking about that too, in some cases it might be worth it, like with the IM booties if they ever fall apart! But they're too expensive, and I like the way they age. I really like my Hope boots, I sold my black leather IM booties to get these instead. Three pairs was one too many, somehow they felt less special when there were three to choose from. They (Hope) are so different from the IM's, and they complete my boots collection, and add something that the others don't. I think that they're quite flattering, with the slim ankle opening. The heel height is pretty much the same, since the sole is thicker. I have only seen the cognac ones in pictures. You should try them on, and let me know what you think.
Oh, you sold your boots on ebay? You should have asked me!!! I think we wear the same shoe size. haha!
ReplyDeleteFleurette - I sold them before I knew you, when I hardly ever posted here. I promise to let you know if there's something of interest for you:)!
ReplyDeleteWhen I find something that fits I stick to it and I buy multiples in different colors. But now that I think of it I never bought multiples in the same color.Would that be consumerism?
ReplyDeleteAngie - I think it's consumerism either way. If I wear something to shreads, and buy another one just like it that I wear all the time, it should be OK. I have never bought multiples in the same colour, though.
